Welcome!

The International Society for Research in Human Milk and Lactation (ISRHML) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the promotion of excellence in research and the dissemination of research findings in the field of human milk and lactation. These objectives are met through:

  • a biennial international meeting and annual symposia and minisymposia at the Experimental Biology meetings (see www.nutrition.org for information about the American Society for Nutrition and the Experimental Biology meetings);
  • a listserve for communication of information among all members;
  • established liaisons with government agencies, public health authorities, industry, and other organizations interested in human lactation.

Full membership is open to investigators who have a doctoral degree or equivalent experience, and at least two publications in peer-reviewed journals in the field of human milk or lactation.

Associate membership is open to masters- and doctoral-level graduate students and postdoctoral fellows who are specializing in lactation or human milk research.

Applications must include a letter of recommendation from a member of the Society, the applicant’s curriculum vita, and a copy of a representative publication; they should be sent to the Secretary/Treasurer electronically if possible. New members approved by the Executive Committee will be notified of acceptance within one month. Annual dues are US $75 for full members and US $30 for associate members. Members receive all notices sent through the ISRHML listserve and are eligible for reduced registration fees at the international biennial meetings.
